Community collaboration

Tiki community members assistance

A collaboration between passionate Tiki contributors and EvoluData to support Tiki-powered projects, train junior developers, and continuously improve Tiki.

Stakeholders

Tiki Community Members

  • Enthusiastic Tiki power users
  • Typically do not have a budget to hire EvoluData for professional services
  • Can help with testing, documentation, proposing requirements, coaching on how to use Tiki features, etc.

Junior Tiki Software Developers

  • Hired by EvoluData
  • Four-year university degree in software engineering and up to three years' work experience
  • Some software developers are also graphic designers
  • All bilingual English/French

Tiki Community & EvoluData

  • Tiki — The Free / Libre / Open Source Web Application with the most built-in features
  • WikiSuite — The most comprehensive and integrated Open Source enterprise solution
  • EvoluData — Largest contributor to both Tiki and WikiSuite

Goals

  • Motivate enthusiastic Tiki community members: Less time discussing improvements and more time actually doing them
  • Provide training to junior Tiki software developers who work for EvoluData
  • Improve Tiki code quality and functionality
  • Get the easy fixes done by junior software developers to reduce list of outstanding issues
  • Increase involvement and engagement in the community
  • Establish relationships between EvoluData and organizations for potential future collaborations

Pilot Project

Scope

This applies to Tiki and Cypht Webmail

Community Members

To be identified in:

Supervising Software Developers

Adrien, Victor, Roberto and Benoit

Process

Tiki Community members must supply ready access to the issue (junior developers are not yet Tiki experts and we don't want to waste time reproducing issues). This can be done in two ways:

  1. SSH access to an environment which has the issue (ideally, you can reproduce in an environment without any confidential data)
  2. Using show.tiki.org
